Indian athletes have excelled in a range of sports, including traditional ones like kabaddi, kho-kho, and wrestling as well as modern ones like cricket, football, and badminton. This blog will take a historical look at Indian sports over the years, highlighting Indian individuals’ and teams’ notable accomplishments. Starting with the earliest days of Indian sports and continuing to the present, we shall look at the people and occasions that have shaped Indian sports history. As we claw into the history of Indian sports, we will start with the early days of Indian sports in ancient times. Indian civilization has a rich history of sports and games, with references to colorful sports and games set up in ancient textbooks similar as the Vedas and the Mahabharata. Traditional sports similar as kabaddi and kho- kho have been played in India for centuries and continue to be popular moment. In the early 20th century, India began to make its mark on the transnational sports scene. Field hockey was one of India’s first major successes, with the Indian hockey platoon winning multiple Olympic gold orders in the 1920s and 1930s. Justice, which was introduced to India by the British, also began to gain fashionability in the country. India’s first test match was played in 1932 and the Indian justice platoon has since come one of the most successful in the world. In thepost-independence period, India has seen a rise in the number of sports and athletes representing the country in transnational competitions. From the iconic moment of Milkha Singh winning the gold in 1958 Commonwealth games, to the iconic 1983 Cricket World Cup palm and the recent Olympic order haul in Rio 2016, Indian athletes have made the country proud. This blog will cover these iconic moments and numerous further as we claw deeper into the history of Indian sports, pressing the people and moments that have shaped the country’s sports geography.”
